How to turn an Altendorf into a crosscutting centre.

However diverse the requirements of sliding table saw users, there are just as many different equipment variants, to meet such requirements. And this is especially clear on the left-hand side of the saw blade: Altendorf offers a wide range of different cross cut and mitre fences, as well as adaptable supplementary fences for every user.
Customers of the world market leader in sliding table saws are able to choose between eleven different fences, enabling every Altendorf to be transformed into its own crosscutting centre. Plane and edge angles can be precisely cut to an accuracy of 1/100°. Supported by the Altendorf-developed vacuum clamping table, just one operator can handle precise mitre cuts across the entire panel length. An Altendorf offers solutions for crosscutting of every kind that would scarcely be feasible with systems such as the vertical saw or beam saw.
Efficient crosscutting
The fixed 90° crosscut fence is suitable for precise square cutting on the cross slide. Despite the fixed angle, this basic variant from the WA 80 model range, which is also available on request for the F 45 and F 45 ELMO III ranges, offers plenty of possible variations. Thus, for example, a couple of simple manual operations allow the fence to be moved from the rear to the forward position, so that the 90° angle can be precisely replicated each and every time. In addition, the DIGIT L digital display is optionally available for cutting that is accurate to a tenth of a millimetre, and is capable of displaying up to three stop positions at the same time. This Altendorf system delivers precision and accuracy of repetition at low cost.
Infinitely adjustable flexibility
The WA 80 X, F 45 and F 45 ELMO ranges offer flexibility at no extra cost: The basic crosscut mitre fence function is already included, in the shape of a system offering a mitre cutting range of 0 – 49°. That’s not all though: To match the infinitely adjustable angle facility, length compensation comes with the same infinite flexibility. For the user, this means significant time-savings: After an angle is changed it is not necessary to readjust stop positions that have already been set.
Ease of operation
The crosscut mitre fence too can be equipped with digital displays. In addition to the DIGIT L display for the stop positions, with this system the user can have the angle displayed with an accuracy of 1/100°thanks to the DIGIT LD. This sets up the conditions for precise plane angles. A change in the angle triggers automatic recalculation of the stop position, enabling the user to read off the details immediately.
If angles in the vertical plane are required as well as angles in the horizontal plane, the Altendorf control unit supports the user when working with compound mitres. Here, tasks that would otherwise call for complex calculations can be handled on the machine with just a few input operations. Depending on the control unit type, other complex geometric calculations, for example involving triangles or trapezoids, can be handled directly on the machine.
High-tech delivers high precision
Thanks to the integrated linear guidance unit, operation of the parallelogram cross slide of the F 45 and F 45 ELMO series is especially effortless. Stable guides ensure the precision the customer is seeking: The system is not subject to wear and offers error-free dimensions. The integrated digital display shows mitre angles accurate to 1/100°.
In the high-end sector, the F 45 ELMO IV represents a step towards largely automated production: two motorised, CNC-controlled flip stops, which are fully integrated into the control unit, reduce setup times and positioning errors to zero. Not least thanks to the F 45 ELMO’s online capabilities, which enable its full integration into the data flow, it is an important option for companies operating in the high-tech sphere.
A wealth of options
To augment the crosscut and mitre fences supplied, every Altendorf can be equipped with extra fences: these range from the simple mitre fence and the PALIN and PALIN D parallel fences, featuring digital display of dimensions to support parallel cutting on the sliding table side, to three variants of the DUPLEX mitre fence. The DUPLEX, with its ability to cut angles and opposite angles in a single setting, is also available with precise digital displays.
