Altendorf takes mobile user campaign to Holz-Handwerk
The first step in the creation of an interactive user platform
Visitors to Altendorf, the world market leader for sliding table saws based in Minden, Germany, at the Holz-Handwerk trade fair will be able to experience the company’s new mobile user campaign. The initiative, which features user videos, is based on the company’s internet platform and can also be accessed from mobile terminals (smartphones). It is intended to be the first step in the creation of an interactive user platform.
None of the world’s sliding table saw manufacturers has more user contacts than Altendorf. More than 130,000 woodworkers and wood-processors around the globe rely on machinery sourced from the world market leader. When Altendorf began to create the Users zone on its company website in 2008, it called on carpenters, cabinet-makers, joiners and other Altendorf users to submit short videos reporting on their experiences with Altendorf sliding table saws. The response was impressive and there were soon a large number of user videos available to view at www.altendorf.com/statements.
“The first mobile campaign in the sector”
Altendorf has now established a stage for these statements at the Holz-Handwerk trade fair. Internet terminals on the stand enable all event visitors to view the user statements and familiarise themselves with the extensive range of services available via the company’s website. The world market leader is employing a special technology for customers with a mobile telephone. The trade fair stand and printed advertisements bear a code known as a QR code that when read by the mobile phone camera leads directly to a dedicated mobile version of the Altendorf website.
“We believe this is the first mobile campaign to be launched in the sector,” reports Altendorf's Managing Director Andreas Ploeger. For Altendorf, however, the campaign involves more than just breaking new ground: “Ultimately, we aim actively to exploit the possibilities of Web 2.0 and the mobile internet to keep in touch with our users.” Altendorf accordingly plans to expand the user pages into an interactive dialog platform in the near future.
Stand to provide information about a wide range of products
Trade fair visitors will be able to inspect all of Altendorf’s machines on its stand as well as finding out more about the mobile campaign. Other points of interest will be covered in separate zones. There will be a special forum explaining the machine concept behind the new Altendorf F 1, for example, and an opportunity to learn more about another innovative project, the development of a special hand detection sensor designed to help prevent sawing accidents. The energy-saving ECO models and Altendorf’s cut optimisation software, which links directly to the sliding table saw, will also be on display at Holz-Handwerk following their debut at last year’s LIGNA international trade show.
