Travelling to Altendorf in Minden

Arriving by plane.

Hanover Airport has numerous direct connections to other international airports: e.g. Amsterdam, Brussels, London or Copenhagen.The airport bus will take you directly to Hanover's main station in about 30 minutes (fare approx. EUR 4.00).
You can then catch one of the many trains to Minden.

Arriving by train.

Minden is handily located on the Intercity (IC) Bielefeld-Hanover line. Besides a large number of direct connections from Minden itself, Bielefeld and Hanover offer all the major interregional connections, for example to Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne or Munich. The Osnabrück-Minden line also provides a number of further connection options from the western part of Germany (German railways INTERRegio service).

Arriving by car.

Minden lies on one of the busiest autobahn routes in Europe, the A2, which connects the eastern and western parts of Germany.

 

Coming from the Dortmund or Hanover direction.

Take the A 2 autobahn until the PORTA WESTFALICA/MINDEN exit. Turn off onto Bundesstraße B 482 in the direction of MINDEN.After approx. 4 km at the next major junction – do not drive through the underpass! – get into the right-hand lane and then turn left at the traffic lights following the sign for the B 61 in the direction of Minden. Cross the new bridge (right hand lane!) over the river Weser. Turn right in the direction of Minden and drive through "Weser-Auen-Tunnel". After about 3 km, turn right into the large roundabout, then get into the left-hand lane and turn left at the traffic lights into Lübbecker Straße (B 65) in the direction of LÜBBECKE/MINDEN WEST. At the third set of traffic lights turn right onto Südring and continue straight on until you reach WETTINERALLEE. After about 1 km you will pass the Hotel Grotehof on the right. After another few hundred metres you have reached your destination: Altendorf is on your left.

Coming from the Osnabrück direction.

Take the A 30 autobahn to Bad Oeynhausen (where the A 30 ends) then take the B 61 Bundesstraße in the direction of Minden. Caution: there are two radar traps on this road so make sure you keep to the speed limit! After about 6-8 km you will reach the "Weser-Auen-Tunnel". Drive straight on, through the tunnel, in the direction of Minden, until you reach the roundabout. Then get into the left-hand lane and turn left at the traffic lights into Lübbecker Straße (B 65) in the direction of LÜBBECKE/MINDEN WEST. At the third set of traffic lights turn right onto Südring and continue straight on until you reach WETTINERALLEE. After about 1 km you will pass the Hotel Grotehof on the right. After another few hundred metres you have reached your destination: Altendorf is on your left.
